Pre & Post Surgery Care

Optimise Your Healing & Regenerative Pathway

Primarily Used To Reduce Inflamation

Any surgery, including cosmetic surgery, may disrupt a patient’s lymphatic channels, and can take two to three months to recover. It will also lead to swelling and bruising in the area the surgery is performed. It is the job of the Lymphatic channels, small hair like structures beneath the skin, to carry away excess fluid and toxins. Primarily it is used to reduce inflammation but also playing a role in the reduction of pain, stiffness and bruising.

An intensive course of treatment is recommended for post-surgery to optimise your healing and regenerative pathway to a faster and better outcome. A session will vary from 60-90 mins, we charge by the session not by the hour.

During your sessions a combination of different techniques will be included to help reduce negative symptoms of post-surgery, in addition to Deep Oscillation Therapy, Lymphatouch, Post Op Massage, K-taping and scar work if required.

What is included in the post surgery aftercare?

Manual lymph Drainage will be combined with Deep Oscillation, Lymphatouch, Post Op Massage, taping and scar work if required.

Recovery expectations?

Recovery from a surgical procedure will vary according to the procedure(s) performed. Recovery also varies as every client is unique therefore your body will react and heal differently to someone else’s. The sooner you receive lymphatic drainage the sooner we can help reduce pain, bruising and expedite healing time.

How many sessions will i need?
The number of sessions is usually based on a variety of factors such as the number of areas needing treatment and the amount of pain/swelling. 5-10 sessions are recommended. In the first two weeks a minimum of 2 sessions a week, ideally more in the first week. Thereafter, 2 a week schedule 2 to 3 days apart.
How soon can the treatment start?
For best results, it is recommended that care be initiated in the first few days following surgery.
My surgeon did not recommend Lymph Drainage
Not all Surgeons tell you about the importance of post care for proper healing, but there are Surgeons who are well verse in Post Surgical Aftercare and up front about the necessity of post care for proper healing.
What are the benefits of Manual Lymph Drainage after a surgical procedure?
  • Speeds overall recovery
  • Breaks up fluids, scar tissue, fibrosis and hardened tissue
  • Accelerates tissue regeneration
  • Diminishes lumpiness and pain
  • Reduces oedema (swelling), water retention and puffiness
  • Circulates white blood cells to improve the healing process
  • Helps to remove waste materials from the surgical area
Pre surgery
Prepares and cleanse the body for surgery, advance the healing process, facilitate the immune system and stimulate the drainage of toxins and excess fluids. To top it, Surgeons also find it easier to make an incision through clean, well-drained tissue, particularly in any sort of aesthetic surgery. This results a higher chance for a nicer approximation of the scar.

It is recommended at least two sessions in the same week prior to the surgery.
